Asaase Radio‘s King Raennie and El Samuels have been honoured at the 2023 Sintex Ghana Media Personality Awards (SGMPA) held in Accra on Saturday (16 July)

King Raennie won DJ of the Year, while El Samuels won Sports Commentator of the Year (English) at the event.

While accepting his award, King Raennie used the opportunity to appreciate the ingenuity of media personalities like Naa Ashorkor and Caroline Sampson for their keenness to see him succeed.

Speaking to Asaase 99.5 Accra’s Winifred Lartey, El Samuels said, “I am immensely thankful for this award. I am very pleased that it is hard to show it in words. It brings more self-belief and dedication to my work.”

“Winning doesn’t always mean being first. Winning means you’re doing better than you’ve ever done before.”

“I couldn’t have done this alone without the Asaase Sports Team and GPL correspondents across the country. I thank them for the opportunity, encouragement, and support given to be honoured,” he said.

El has been in the media space for over two decades.

“This is my first award since joining the Asaase family, and I believe there’s more room for improvement,” he said. “Looking forward to winning more awards to bring honour to the Asaase brand.”
