8th EMY Africa Awards: Mohammed Kudus, Black Sheriff, Stonebwoy, others clinch nominations

The highly anticipated nominations for the 8th edition of the EMY Africa Awards have been officially announced.
The prestigious event, known for honoring exceptional men who are catalysts for change in their societies, is set to celebrate excellence and impact.
The nominations were revealed during a live broadcast on JoyPrime TV and Joy 997.FM, generating excitement among fans and industry insiders alike.
In addition to the competitive categories, which are open to public voting, the event also pays tribute to women whose endeavors have positively influenced society.
The nominees for the five competitive categories were unveiled during the nomination announcement show. In the hotly contested Man of the Year – Music category, the talented Black Sheriff, Camidoh, Kidi, King Promise, and Stonebwoy secured their spots, reflecting their exceptional artistry and impact on the music scene.
The Actor of the Year category features a stellar lineup of nominees, including Adjetey Anang, Tobi Bakre, Bill Asamoah, Anthony Woode, and Chidi Mokeme. These actors have captivated audiences with their remarkable performances and garnered critical acclaim for their talent and versatility.
The Designer of the Year category highlights the fashion industry’s creative minds. JayRay Ghartey (JayRay Fashion), Andrew Mackenzie (Jesu Segun London), Elikem Kumordzie (Elikem the Tailor), Free the Youth, and Kenneth Tetteh have been acknowledged for their exceptional contributions and boundary-pushing designs.
Sports enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the Man of the Year – Sports category, which includes notable nominees Joseph Paul Amoah, Benjamin Azamati, Mohammed Kudus, and Abraham Mensah.
These athletes have represented Ghana with distinction, showcasing their dedication and determination on the global stage.
The Discovery of the Year category recognises rising stars who have demonstrated exceptional promise. Manuel Koranteng, Paul Ninson, Perez Musik, and Mohammed Kudus have caught the industry’s attention with their talent and potential, setting the stage for even greater achievements.
In addition to the competitive categories, the EMY Africa Awards will present honorary awards in various fields. These include the Man of the Year, Magnate Award, Humanitarian Award, Young Achiever Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Diasporan Award, Continental Icon Award, Technology Award, Woman of the Year, Guardian Award, Health Award, and Agriculture Award.
The recipients of these prestigious accolades will be unveiled during the main awards event.
As part of the build-up activities, EMY Africa will host a soirée in Lagos, Nigeria, in August, adding to the excitement surrounding this year’s awards.

The hosts of the nominations announcement show, celebrated actor Adjetey Anang and TV host/actress Sika Osei, urged the public to cast their votes and make their voices heard.
They emphasised the importance of recognizing and celebrating individuals who inspire and uplift through their achievements.
The 8th EMY Africa Awards promises to be a night of glitz, glamour, and celebration as outstanding individuals are honored for their resilience, talent, and impact.
