Ablekuma robbery: Slain policeman was hardworking and family-oriented, says brother

The policeman, who has been identified as Calistus Amoah, was killed when the van he was escorting was attacked by heavily armed robbers

Cosmos Amoah, the brother of the policeman, who was killed in a bullion van attack in Ablekuma, a suburb of Accra last Thursday, has described his slain sibling as an outstanding officer who always went the extra mile to perform his duties as a police officer.

The policeman, who has been identified as Callistus Amoah, was killed when the van he was escorting was attacked by heavily armed robbers.

“Callistus was a hardworking and diligent police officer,” Cosmos told Asaase 99.5 Accra. “He took his duty to protect and serve the people of Ghana very seriously.”

The robbery occurred when the van was transporting cash from the Star Oil Fuel station. The robbers, who were armed with AK-47 rifles, opened fire on the van, killing the police officer on the spot.

But Lance Corporal Amoah’s commitment extended beyond his professional life.

According to his brother, he was a pillar of support for their family and always put their needs first.

“Calistus was incredibly family-oriented,” Cosmos continued.

“He was always there for us, ready to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement. We will miss his warmth, love, and unwavering support.”

Lance Corporal Amoah’s unwavering patriotism has earned him respect and admiration from his colleagues and community members.

He was known for his deep love for Ghana and his unwavering commitment to upholding justice and safeguarding the country’s peace.
