Afua Asantewaa on GWR results: I’m not a failure because I inspired others

Speaking on GTV, Aduonum said "I've failed several times to get here and this here is inspiring people and that is a success"

The Ghanaian broadcast journalist Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, who failed in her attempt at exceeding the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest singing marathon by an individual, has said that regardless of the results from GWR, she impacted others.

Speaking on GTV, Aduonum said “I’ve failed several times to get here and this here is inspiring people and that is a success.”

According to Aduonum, her story is one of impact and resilience: “If somebody would wake up in the morning and say Afua did it so I can do it it’s not really about the certificate; it’s about the impact I made so I’m okay, I’m fulfilled.”

She added, “if you’re nobody, they will not talk about you, regardless of what impact it is people talk about you. I’ve been through a lot; it’s not singathon.”

“I’ve organised events for six years … there are times there are not even sponsors but I make it happen so failure made me. So this is who I am,” she said.
