Ahmed Twumasi: State prays for more time to file disclosures in ‘killer’ policeman’s case

The prosecution had already tendered in two pen drives containing footage of the incident and sought leave of the court to serve counsel for the accused person

A Kumasi High Court had to adjourn the trial of Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, the policeman accused of killing his girlfriend, Victoria Dapaah.

This was after the state prayed for more time to file all disclosures and other documents to enable the court to commence with the Case Management Conference (CMC).

Defence lawyers did not oppose the prayer of the State. The court presided over by Her Lady Rosemary Baah Tosu, consequently granted the prayer and adjourned the case to 19 September 2023.

The deceased Victoria Dapaah was allegedly gunned down following a misunderstanding between the suspect in April this year. Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, aka ‘Tycoon’, has pleaded not guilty to murder charges after he was arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson for Victoria Dapaah’s family, Nana Addo Barima said, “In today’s proceedings, our lawyer said he had about two or three evidence to put before the court for which reason he didn’t want the court to go on with the proceeding.

So he pleaded with the judge to give him some time to put together the evidence. So, the judge asked that the case be adjourned to the 19th of September.”
