Ransford Kwesi Nyarko, the District Chief Executive of Ajumako Enyan Essiam has been arrested by the Central Region Police Command for assaulting a police officer and freeing a suspect in custody.
Kwesi Nyarko is alleged to have driven to the Ochiso Police Station Charge Officer last Wednesday, 2 December 2020, in the company of some eight men.
Corporal Frank Mensah is said to have detained the aide to the DCE, Kwadwo Cosmos, following a report of an assault against him by a resident Adwoa Sophia, as the woman had alleged of assault by Kodwo Cosmos against her 18-year-old grandson Kofi Akorfo.
The detention of the suspect, according to the police did not go well with the DCE who organised some youth in the area to invade the police station and in the process subjected the police officer to severe beatings.
The police officer has since been receiving treatment at the Ajumako hospital.
