Akatsi: Two feared dead as police clash with youth

Two individuals are feared dead following a clash between the police and some irate youth of Akatsi in the Volta Region on Sunday (10 April).

The youth were protesting against alleged police brutality in the area and degenerated into a clash with the law enforcement agency.

The youth, according to sources, were protesting the death of one Etornam following alleged police brutality last month.

However, a deployed team of police personnel from Ho and Akatsi assigned to ensure a peaceful protest ended up clashing with the youth, leading to the unconfirmed death of two protesters.

The police vehicle was also destroyed in the melee.

The police are yet to respond to calls from Asaase News on the incident.
