Akufo-Addo to Ghanaians: Let’s eschew divisiveness

Akufo-Addo says as Ghana celebrates 65 years of independence, Ghanaians should "eschew all acts of divisiveness and self-centered tendencies"

President Akufo-Addo has appealed to Ghanaians to do everything possible to eschew divisiveness and selfishness as they go about their daily duties and in our quest to chart the path of development and prosperity.

Speaking in Accra at the 2022 edition of the “President’s Independence Day Awards” at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Tuesday (2 March), Akufo-Addo said achieving a national prosperity is a process and will not come overnight.

“As we prepare to celebrate 65 years of independence from the British colonial power on the theme; “Working Together Bouncing Back Better”, let us eschew all acts of divisiveness and self-centered tendencies which will only retard our forward match,” Akufo-Addo said.

“We much have the pride to acknowledge that we have made positive strides and we must also have the humility to appreciate that we still have some way to go.”

To this end, the President admonished Ghanaians saying, “we must have the patience to accept that just as our fight for freedom and independence was not achieved in a day, so too, national prosperity will not come overnight”.
