Akufo-Addo to hit 2024 campaign trail from Wednesday 2 October

Akufo-Addo will start his campaign which would be about 65 days before the 2024 elections, in the Upper East and Upper West Regions

President Akufo-Addo is scheduled to begin his campaign for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2024 presidential ticket, (Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and his running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh) as well as all of the party’s parliamentary candidates in all 276 constituencies on Wednesday, 2 October 2024.

Akufo-Addo will start his campaign tour which would be about 65 days before the 2024 presidential and parliamentary election, in the Upper East and Upper West Regions. His plan according to sources familiar with the President’s itinerary is that he will visit and campaign in all 16 Regions of the country before 7 December 2024.

The President’s handlers again indicated to Asaase News that the President would on Thursday, 3 October 2024, travel out of the country to France and Germany for an official assignment. Upon his return, he will resume his regional campaign for the NPP 2024 presidential ticket (Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh).

President Akufo-Addo will leave office as President of the Republic on 7 January 2025 and he has expressed his fervent desire to handover office to the man who partnered with him for four consecutive elections in Ghana (2008, 2012, 2016, 2020). Out of the four elections, President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia lost two (2008 and 2012) and won two (2016 and 2020).

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh have over the past few months been carrying out a constituency-based campaign. The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is currently in the Western Region and his running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh is also campaigning in the Ashanti Region.
