The Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, has resigned pending a possible ministerial reshuffle in the next few days, officials at the Office of the President confirm to

Kyerematen, who has had his eye on the presidency, tendered his resignation letter on Thursday 5 January 2023.

He has served as Trade Minister since President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo came to power in 2017.

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Friday (6 January 2023), the pollster Ben Ephson said Kyerematen’s resignation is long overdue.

“I can confirm that it’s true,” Ephson said. “It’s been too long in coming. We should expect a reshuffle in the coming weeks. By Tuesday or Wednesday it will be clear.”

The Office of the President is yet to comment officially on the development.
