All Regional Games’ database prevents dual registration, ensures fair play across 16 regions, says coordinator

The All Regional Games is to revitalise grassroots sports across the 16 regions to unearth talents in various disciplines for the nation.

The media coordinator for the All Regional Games, Alfred Obeng Dompreh, has stated that players cannot duplicate their registration because of their database system, which does not allow them to register more than once.

The All Regional Games is to revitalise grassroots sports across the 16 regions to unearth talents in various disciplines for the nation.

The games to be played include football, volleyball, athletics, basketball, boxing, tennis, arm wrestling, and e-sports among others.

Speaking to Asaase Sports on the sidelines of the Greater Accra trials at the University of Ghana, Obeng Dompreh said, “Unfortunately, the way the database is structured, it will be difficult for a player to register in a different region because we did it on a regional-based basis.”.

“It’s an individual registration so when you choose a region you can’t duplicate your registration for other regions. It’s strictly for a region.”

The All Regional Games initiative requires regions to conduct trials to enable them to select their best sportsmen and women, who would then compete against representatives from other regions.

The games are expected to keep the spirit of the African Games alive, offering a chance for Ghana’s emerging athletes and footballers to shine and continue the nation’s sporting excitement.
