Ameng-Etegu: Freelance journalist arrested for unlawful filming, says ministry

The ministry of national security says the freelance journalist Sacut Ameng-Etegu was arrested for filming court proceedings without permission

The Ministry of National Security has denied reports suggesting freelance journalist, Sacut Ameng-Etegu has  been unduly arrested and detained by the state.

Media reports had earlier suggested the freelance journalist was arrested at the court over allegation of extortion levelled against some national security operatives.

However, in a statement on Sunday (27 February), the Ministry of National Security said Ameng-Etegu was arrested on the orders of the high court for filming and videoing the court’s proceedings without permission.
