Ashanti Region: Police investigate alleged murder of 33-year-old nurse

The disappearance of Rita Asamoah prompted police investigations following reports that she had not returned home from work

The police in the Ashanti Region have begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 33-year-old nurse at Atwima Boko in the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipality.

The disappearance of Rita Asamoah prompted police investigations following reports that she had not returned home from work.

The married woman was, however, found lifeless the next day in a nearby bush, about78 meters away from her house at Abrewa Burger, a popular neighborhood in the electoral area.

The assemblyman for Atwima Boko, Emmanuel Agyei Owusu, said top police chiefs have reached out to the husband. He, however, told Asaase News that no arrest has been made.

The victim went to work on Monday (9 October) and told her husband she was on her way home. Around 8:30pm she had not returned, prompting the husband to report to the police at Atwima Techiman.

“So after a long search, the police and her husband found her dead in a nearby bush the next day. For now, the police say investigations have commenced. The regional police commander has since reached out to the husband over the incident,” he said.

The body has since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue.

This incident brings to four the number of suspected robbery and murder cases targeting women in the Atwima Kwanwoma district in three months.

The assemblyman is seeking the intervention of the district security council to improve security in those areas.
