Augustine Ahinful believes Black Stars need prayers and psychological help

Former Black Stars forward Augustine Ahinful believes the current national team needs prayers and psychological help amidst the widespread criticism of the team and urges young players to take advices as the former Dortmund striker celebrates his 49th birthday

Former Black Stars forward Augustine Ahinful believes the current national team needs prayers and psychological help amidst the widespread criticism of the team following their recent struggles on the pitch.

Ghana suffered a one-nil defeat to Comoros after a nervy one-nil win at home to Madagascar earlier this month in their group I in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers for the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

When asked about how the Black Stars can bounce back on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Thursday, Ahinful said, “We need to pray for them. “We need to give them the psychological help that they need to cross the bridge to the other end.”

Ahinful was the top scorer (12) in the Ghana Premier League in 1993 with Ashanti Gold before winning the Turkish Cup with Trazanspor. Off the field, he has lived an exemplary life for which he expects will be an inspiration for the younger generation of players.

“I believe that the young players can listen. If you listen to good counsel from elderly people, you take it and add it to whatever you have. You don’t have to discard advice, even bad or good.”
