Bawumia: 2024 election is a battle of ideas not violence

NPP's presidential candidate has urged Ghanaians to embrace a peaceful election, promising to uplift and transform Ghana through innovative ideas

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 presidential candidate, Mahamudu Bawumia, has reiterated his commitment to a peaceful election, emphasising the party’s intention to focus on ideas rather than conflict.

Speaking at the NPP’s headquarters in Asylum Down after submitting his nomination forms to the Electoral Commission (EC) on Monday (9 September), Bawumia highlighted the NPP’s vision to uplift and transform Ghana, stating that their agenda is centred on the nation’s progress rather than individual gain.

“We are here for Ghana and not for ourselves individually,” he said. “We want to uplift Ghana and transform Ghana and I believe we are going to do it.”

Bawumia further stressed that the upcoming election would be a contest of ideas.

He added that only those lacking vision resort to violence, declaring, “It’s only people without ideas, people who are empty, who resolve to fighting. We have ideas; we are full of ideas and we will fight on our ideas. We will not have violence in this election.”
