Bawumia to Hasaacas Ladies: You must win CAF trophy in Egypt

The vice-president wants the newly crowned CAF Women's Champions League Zone B winners to replicate their success in the big tournament in Egypt

The Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has congratulated Hasaacas Ladies Football Club for winning the ultimate in the just ended CAF Women’s Championship League Zone B in Côte d’Ivoire.

He has appealed to them to ensure they replicate their success by winning the CAF trophy in Egypt later this year.

Dr Bawumia made the request when the team presented the trophy to him at the Jubilee House on Wednesday (18 August) in Accra.

“This afternoon, I welcomed newly-crowned CAF Women’s Champions League Zone B champions, Hasaacas Ladies Football Club to the Jubilee House.

The team was at the Jubilee House to present to me the trophy they won in Côte d’Ivoire which has also qualified them to the final CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt in November,” Dr Bawumia posted on Facebook.

“On behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the government, I congratulated them for their outstanding and historic achievement, as well as reassured them of government’s commitment to developing women’s sports. I also urged them to replicate their impressive performance in Egypt later this year and bring home the main CAF trophy.”
