Bawumia will be the next president after Akufo-Addo, says gender minister
Zuwera called on religious leaders to pray for the Bawumia to win the flagbearer contest and lead the country after the 2024 general elections
The minister of gender, children and social protection and the member of parliament (MP) for the Walewale constituency, Hajia Lariba Abudu Zuwera, has said that the vice-president, Mahamudu Bawumia, will be the next president after Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo in 2025.
Zuwera called on religious leaders to pray for Bawumia to win the flagbearer contest and lead the country after the 2024 general elections.
She said the vice-president has carried himself well. He is competent enough to discharge his duties to expectation when given the power.
She declared her support for Bawumia in an interview with Asaase Radio’s North East Regional correspondent, Dokurugu Alhassan, in Walewale during the celebration of the Eid ul-Fitr on Saturday 22 April.
She said, “The vice president is very competent, incorruptible and humble to lead the party after Nana Addo. He is the man to be president of the republic of Ghana after Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. That is why I said it is possible.
“The vice-president votes in my constituency and he is one of the voters. So, he is one of us. So I say it is possible.”
The minister also called for peace to prevail in the protracted chieftaincy conflict in Bawku between the Mamprusis and the Kusaasis. The conflict has affected economic activity in the area.
