Black Sherif had wanted to be a doctor, father says

Black Sherif was crowned the Artiste of the Year over the weekend at the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA)

Mohammed Ismail Sherif, better known by his stage name, Black Sherif, had wanted to become a medical doctor, his father, Kwabena Frimpong has said.

Black Sherif was crowned the Artiste of the Year over the weekend at the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

The awards ceremony took place at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday (6 May).

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (9 May), Frimpong said: “I never knew he would become a musician.”

“He wanted to become a doctor, I actually wanted him to become a graduate, but what God wills is what happens,” Frimpong said.
