BoG: “Freedom Coin” not licensed to operate in Ghana

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) said it has not licensed the operations of any cryptocurrency firm under its laws

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) says it has not approved a yet to be launched cryptocurrency named “Freedom Coin” to operate in the country.

In a statement, the BoG said it has not licensed the operations of any cryptocurrency firm under its laws.

“The public is hereby cautioned that neither this cryptocurrency nor the promoting company has approval from the Bank of Ghana to operate in the banking and payment sector,” the statement said.
