Borehole saga: Apologise for spewing lies, NPP to Sawla MP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the government has initiated several projects including the construction of boreholes in the Savannah Region

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications director for Savannah Region, Mohammed Issah, has lashed out at the opposition MP for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba constituency, Andrews Chiwetey, for allegedly claiming the government has not constructed boreholes in the region.

“This claim is a complete fallacy. The region has benefited from not less than 20 to 30 boreholes either by central government through the ministry or the Northern Development Authority (NDA) and the district assembly,” he said.

According to him, the governing New Patriotic Party has significantly done better than the NDC during “their miserable eight years in the region.”

Speaking at a press conference in Damongo on Tuesday 14 December 2021, Issah said the NPP has initiated several projects including the Salaga water project, a community water project at Yapei including the ongoing multi-million Damongo water project.

He has therefore called on the MP and other members of the minority in Parliament to apologise over their claims.

Touching on projects in the Savannah Region, he said NPP has drilled and constructed boreholes in several areas.

“I conclude by repeating my earlier challenge; Chiwetey and his minority colleagues should either come and deny the existence of these projects or simply apologise to the good people of Ghana to keep their honorable titles,” he said.
