Kofi Abotsi hosts Friday evening show “Town Hall Talk” on Asaase Radio 99.5

Asaase Radio is delighted to announce the launch of its hard-hitting, cutting-edge radio talk show programme, Town Hall Talk. The talk show, which will air on Asaase Radio 99.5 this and every Friday at 5pm, will delve into the most critical current affairs issues and treat the subjects with substance and respect.

Town Hall Talk is hosted by a renowned academic and legal luminary, Ernest Kofi Abotsi. “There is really nothing similar to Town Hall Talk in Ghana now. Perhaps what comes close is BBC’s Hard Talk,” says Nana Opoku Antwi Agyeman, chief executive of Asaase Radio, adding, “It is simply, intellectually stimulating and promises to be fulfilling for listeners.”

A carefully crafted show designed to interrogate “the matters which matter” to you in conversations with key decision-makers and experts, Town Hall Talk promises to be fast, informative and engaging, with no fluff and nothing but pure substance.

Hosted by one of the most knowledgeable voices in Ghana, Kofi Abotsi, the show offers a refreshingly radical, well-researched and substantive alternative to other talk shows and discussion programmes.

Unlike other talk shows of this genre, Town Hall Talk will focus on engaging eminent and respected personalities with the requisite knowledge on important conversations making the rounds in the political and economic space. The host will also talk to professionals who will break down and elaborate on policies and their implications.

The show aims to elevate the political and governance discourse of the country to a level of seriousness unmatched by any existing talk show outside of Asaase Radio.

The maiden edition of Town Hall Talk, which airs on Friday 3 July, will feature the executive secretary of the National Identification Authority, Professor Ken Attafuah.

He will be addressing the issues of citizenship, which is engaging the attention of the nation, with the compilation of a new voters’ register ongoing. Kofi Abotsi will also take on his guest over the successes and challenges of the Ghana Card project.

The host of the show, Kofi Abotsi, is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Professional Studies, Accra, before which he was Dean of the GIMPA Law School between 2012 and 2018. He is a practising lawyer, public intellectual and managing partner of Axis Legal Solicitors, a firm of consulting barristers and solicitors which specialises in corporate and commercial advisory and litigation.

Of 18 years’ standing at the Ghana Bar, Dean Abotsi has also held various public service positions, including serving on the Constitutional Commission and consulting for governmental and intergovernmental agencies and bodies, including the International Monetary Fund.
