#CAFChampionsLeague: Boadu certain of qualification

Double-winning coach Boadu expresses optimism ahead of tricky CAF tie with Kamsar of Guinea

Samuel Boadu, head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, says his team is ready for its Champions League preliminary tie against Kamsar Industrial Club of Guinea.

The Phobians will take on the Guinean side at the Accra Sports Stadium in the CAF Champions League play-off tie today (Sunday 19 September 2021).

The fixture, like all others, was supposed to be a two-legged tie until the first leg in Guinea was cancelled following a coup d’état which drove the Guinean president Alpha Condé from office.

CAF subsequently announced that the fixture would be played as a play-off tie at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In the event that the teams are tied at full-time, there will be no extra time. The winner will be decided on penalties.

No shaking

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the double-winning coach expressed optimism about the prospects for Hearts of Oak.

“All we need is the qualification and we would qualify,” Boadu said.

The tie will be Boadu’s Champions League bow in his short but successful managerial career. Yet, the double-winning coach says there are no nerves at all.

“I am not nervous at all. The name for the competition is just a name and it doesn’t change our style of play or our tactics. I am not nervous at all,” Boadu said.

The match will be played without spectators. Kick-off is at 3pm GMT.
