All is set in the Central regional capital, Cape Coast as the metropolis gets ready to host Ghana’s 65th Independence Day anniversary on Sunday (6 March).
Hotels and guest houses in Cape Coast are cashing in on the national event. Rooms are fully booked in advance, according to Asaase News checks.
There has been a step up in rehearsal as schools and members of the various security agencies prepare for Sunday’s parade. Students from the first and second cycle institutions have been drawn from the metropolis for the march-past.
This is the third time such an event is being held outside Accra after Tamale and Kumasi hosted it.
The event which is on the theme: “Working Together; Bouncing Back Better”, will be attended by dignitaries including the Prime Minister of the Republic of Barbados, Mia Mottley, who is the special guest.
Clean-up exercises, debates and quiz competitions have also been held as part of activities to mark the event.
The Cape Coast Sports Stadium which is the venue for the event has been given a facelift as the internal and external facilities of the 15,000-capacity stadium have been polished up ahead of Sunday’s event.
