A total of 79,268 persons in the Tema Metropolis have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, Linda Adjapong, disease control officer for the Tema metropolitan health directorate, has said.
Presenting the data at the health directorate’s annual performance review, Adjapong said the figure represents 50.2% of the total eligible population of 158,059 in the metropolis.
She said 95,679 persons, representing 60.5% of the eligible population, have received at least one dose. She added that 2,175 adolescents have been vaccinated since the exercise began.
Adjapong gave a breakdown of the type of vaccines received.

She said 155 reports of adverse effects of the vaccine were recorded. Two of the reports were classified as serious and 153 normal. No cases of adverse effects were recorded for the Sputnik vaccine. The details are below.

The disease control officer said covid-19 has not been eradicated, but the vaccination has reduced its effect. She appealed to people who have not been vaccinated to do so.
