MTN Ghana celebrated newborn babies at Damongo St Anne’s Catholic Hospital as part of its annual Christmas celebration.
As part of the celebration for this year, the staff of MTN, led by its territory controller Matthew Abugbilla, donated to 20 babies born on 25 December and their mothers in the Savannah Region.
Each basket contained antiseptics, baby soaps, sponges, baby pomade, and baby diapers, among others.
“I’m glad to be here as part of MTN’s Christmas celebration,” Abugbilla said.
“Every year we do the 25th December Christmas celebration and so in the Savannah Region, we are doing two selected hospitals: the Salaga Government Hospital and the Damongo Regional Hospital,” he added.
He said he was excited about the numbers this year compared to previous years.
“It’s been a good exercise this year because, looking at the number we have from Damongo Hospital, we have been able to get nine births and we’re taking the others to the town clinic to complete that. And so in all, we think that sharing the joy with these newborns or mothers is why we are doing this exercise.”
He assured the mothers of the telecommunication giant’s continuous support for the children in the future.
He indicated that it is the organisation’s prayer and hope that the women will use the hampers to good effect to help keep these children healthy and strong.
“We wish we could have done more, and when they grow, we will always be around to offer support.”
A beneficiary, Rumasia Abdul Jalel, who spoke on behalf of her colleagues, commended MTN for remembering them while celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
“I’m grateful to MTN for what they’ve done for me. I’m very excited and may God bless you all with prosperity.”
The midwife in charge of the maternity ward, Madam Felicia Saabome, expressed gratitude to the team for their unflinching support for the mothers and the hospital.
“God bless them and may God replenish whatever you may have spent on getting us these hampers a millionfold. We’re very grateful and Merry Christmas to MTN,” Saabome said.
