Dr Abdul Kabiru files nomination amidst overwhelming support in Walewale township
The nomination forms of Dr Mahama Tia Abdul Kabiru was submitted on Thursday, 12 September 2024, at the EC office in Walewale
Dr Mahama Tia Abdul Kabiru, the parliamentary candidate for the Walewale Constituency on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket and Technical Advisor at the Office of the Vice President, has officially submitted his nomination forms at the Electoral Commission (EC) office in Walewale.
He is set to contest the 2024 general parliamentary and presidential elections.
The nomination form was submitted on Thursday, 12 September 2024, at the EC office in Walewale.
The NPP members in the Walewale Constituency turned out in large numbers to show their support for the young man they had been praying and hoping would become their parliamentary candidate.
The supporters of the NPP in the Walewale Constituency admire Dr Mahamudu Tia Abdul Kabiru and are willing to give him their support in the 2024 general elections.
Dr Abdul Kabiru’s candidacy was confirmed by the NPP’s National Executive Committee following the inconclusive rerun election on September 9, 2024, which led to the withdrawal of incumbent MP Hajia Lariba Abudu Zuwera.
In the upcoming elections on December 7, Dr Abdul Kabiru will face off against Abdallah Abubakari, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Walewale Constituency.
Notably, Abdallah Abubakari has contested the seat four consecutive times and will be keen to avoid another loss.
However, as a first-time candidate, Dr Abdul Kabiru has garnered significant admiration from the youth and unwavering support from constituents, largely due to his association with Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia. If the NPP strategically leverages this support, it could pave the way for a decisive victory.
Following the submission of his nomination forms, Dr Kabiru has appealed to the Vice President to focus his campaign on other parts of the country, entrusting the constituents of Walewale to secure the seat for him.
“We must be aware that for the head to function, there must be a stability of the neck and the stability of Mamprugu and the Walewale Constituency the neck is Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia,” he said.
“Go back to your various constituencies, the campaign starts today. We are assuring our brother His Excellency that he should concentrate on other constituencies, we will start the reconciliation today and will deliver the seat tomorrow for the New Patriotic Party,” he assured.
