Eddie Nketiah open to play for Ghana

Nketiah, 25 was born in Lewisham, England but both of his parents Elizabeth Asaam and Edward Nketiah are Ghanaians

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah says he is open to play for Ghana in International football.

Nketiah, 25 was born in Lewisham, England but both of his parents Elizabeth Asaam and Edward Nketiah are

both Ghanaians, so it makes him eligible to play for the Black Stars.

Eddie Nketiah who grew up in England and has played for the Youth teams from U18 to U21 and was given his first appearance with the Three Lions in a 1-0 friendly win over Australia on 13 October 2023.

The rapid growth of talents in England’s squad has reduced his chances to make it to the first-team again.

As a result, he has now opened the door widely for Otto Addo’s team.

“My parents are both Ghanaians, so yeah, of course, it’s a possibility, you know,” Nketiah told the Beautiful game podcast.

“I think I’m open to both, whether that’s playing for Ghana and obviously England as well.

“Like you said, I’ve played for [England] youth team, so naturally, when I was obviously younger, it just made sense [to expect becoming a Three Lion].

“If they [Ghana] called me up to go and play for them, I’ll be there.”
