Ejisu NPP primary: Nyantakyi hospitalised, says campaign team

Nyantakyi is currently at the Legacy Hospital receiving medical attention as NPP delegates in Ejisu vote to select a candidate ahead of the 30 April by-election

Kwesi Nyantakyi, one of the main contenders in the Ejisu NPP primary has been hospitalized, his campaign team has confirmed to Asaase News.

Nyantakyi is currently at the Legacy Hospital receiving medical attention as NPP delegates in Ejisu vote to select a candidate ahead of the 30 April by-election.

Asaase News is learning that the election committee led by Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Wontumi, has visited him after hearing the news.

“That’s true. Wontumi and other executives just visited him at the Legacy Hospital. He is responding to treatment”, one of his campaign team members told Asaase News in a terse message.

Voting is currently ongoing to elect a new Member of Parliament for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ejisu Constituency of the Ashanti Region.

About 1,081 delegates are expected to cast their vote Saturday (13 April) to elect a new parliamentary candidate for the NPP in the Ejisu by-election triggered by the passing of Dr John Kumah.

John Kumah, aged 45, who served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, succumbed to a brief illness, leaving behind a wife and six children.

All nine individuals aspiring to contest in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primary in the constituency have been given the green light by the vetting committee.
