The Electoral Commission (EC) has approved the candidature of 13 presidential candidates for the December 7 elections after vetting nominations filed by prospective candidates.
Although 39 people picked up passcodes to enable them to fill and file the presidential nomination forms, only 24 submitted the completed forms as of the close of business last Friday.
A statement issued by the EC on Friday (20 September), said the candidates were approved after a thorough examination of their nomination forms.
The qualified candidates are Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alan Kyerematen, Independent Candidate, Christian Kwabena Andrews of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Daniel Lartey Jnr of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), George Twum Barima Adu, Independent candidate and Nana Kwame Bediako, Independent Candidate.
The rest are Akua Donkor of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Hassan Ayariga of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Kofi Apaloo of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Mohammed Frimpong of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Akosua Frimpomaa of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) and Kofi Koranteng, Independent Candidate.
