The Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare has said the Ashanti Region plays a significant role for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) as 80% of votes from the region can help the party “break the eight” in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Speaking at the NPP campaign team inauguration in the Ashanti Region attended by party members and supporters, she highlighted the significance of overwhelming support from the NPP stronghold in determining the party’s success, regardless of outcomes in other regions.
Osei-Opare stated that securing at least 80% of registered voters in the Ashanti Region for the NPP would greatly enhance their electoral prospects.
“In 2024, the fight belongs to us, the Ashantis. It is our fight, if we are able to win, that is the end… in the Ashanti Region, if we are supposed to bring at least 80% of all the registered voters to vote, the counting of votes in all the other regions will be complimentary,” she said.
Osei-Opare urged party members to prioritise efforts to mobilise support from constituents in the Ashanti Region.
“The Ashanti Region is the most important region, and therefore everything that they are doing, we have to support them and make the party firm in the Ashanti Region,” she added.
