Fiifi Coleman honours late Ama Ata Aidoo with stage play
āThe Dilemma of a GhostāĀ was the stage dĆ©but by Aidoo, Ghanaās best-known playwright, who passed away in May this year, and it is still one of her most popular plays
In appreciation of the works and in memory of the late poet, playwright and novelist Ama Ata Aidoo, the actor Fiifi Coleman is set to stage a play at the National Theatre on Saturday 29 July 2023.
The cast for the play, which will run at 4pm and 8pm, includes Roselyn Feli, Adjetey Anang, Naa Ashorkor, Fiifi Coleman, Fred Amugi, Brew Riverson Junior and members of the Abibigroma Drama group.
Fiifi Coleman told Graphic Showbiz: āIts quite unfortunate that the play is being staged at a time Professor Ama Ata Aidoo is no more.
āI wish she were alive to witness this play by these awesome actors.
āProfessor [Ama Ata Aidoo] was one person I personally admired. And as an actor who has featured in Dilemma of a Ghost more than twice on stage, [I thought] it was best to assemble these great actors to do something to honour Prof …
āI contacted her family and they gave me the go-ahead. We are currently rehearsing for the big day, that is 29 July.
āI urge all Ghanaians to come in their numbers to watch this beautiful play. At least, if for nothing at all, Brew Riverson Junior, who has been missing on the acting scene for a long time, will be on stage,ā Coleman said.
