Five things you (probably) didn’t know about Celestine Donkor

Born and raised in Ghana, Donkor discovered her passion for music at a young age and has been pursuing her dream ever since

Celestine Donkor is a Ghanaian gospel musician who has been making waves in the music industry with her powerful vocals and inspirational songs.

Born and raised in Ghana, Donkor discovered her passion for music at a young age and has been pursuing her dream ever since.

Here are five facts you probably didn’t know about her:

Daughter of an elder at church

Celestine Donkor, aka Gospel Soldier, a proud daughter of Elder Gabriel Akakpo and Hanna Akakpo, Celestine attended St. Augustine’s Preparatory/JSS in Abeka Lapaz, after which she enrolled at Nsaaniya Secondary Business School in Kasoa for her senior secondary certificate.

It took the generous nature of the boxing legend and Africa’s only Hall Famer, Barima Azumah Nelson and the International Solid Foundation Ministry to see her through her secondary education as the family was in a serious financial crisis.

At the age of sixteen and still in her second circle of education, she came into contact with Fred Kyei Mensah, aka Fredyma, who brought her into the music industry as a backing vocalist.

Her love for singing in the Ewe language

Donkor’s music is a blend of traditional Ghanaian sounds with modern gospel influences, creating a unique and captivating sound that has captivated listeners of all ages. Her songs are filled with messages of hope, faith, and love, making her a beloved figure in the gospel music scene.

When asked why she excels at singing in Ewe, she replied, “I am a full-blooded Ewe and I enjoy singing in my mother tongue, but hey, watch out!”

She, however, does not hide her joy in singing in other languages, such as Twi, Ga and English.

She has hinted on so many occasions that she is learning some other foreign languages so as to be able to sing everywhere in the world without much difficulty since all Christians serve the same God with one gospel.

“Though there might be differences in ideologies as to the interpretations of certain doctrines, the gospel must reach all nations, all tribes and all people,” she said.

Known for her uplifting and soul-stirring messages

Donkor’s music is known for its uplifting and soul-stirring messages, which have resonated with audiences not only in Ghana but also across the globe.

She has released several albums over the years, including her most popular album titled “Agbebolo,” which has received critical acclaim and commercial success.

A beacon of God’s faith

With her powerful voice and heartfelt lyrics, Celestine Donkor continues to inspire and uplift audiences around the world. Her music serves as a beacon of light in a world filled with darkness, reminding listeners of the power of faith and the importance of spreading love and positivity.

She is a talented and inspirational artist who has made a significant impact on the music industry with her soul-stirring music and powerful messages. Her dedication to her craft and her commitment to making a difference in the world make her a true role model for aspiring musicians and fans alike.

Philanthropic act

In addition to her musical talents, Donkor is also a philanthropist and activist, using her platform to advocate for social justice and empower marginalised communities.

She is involved in various initiatives aimed at improving the lives of women and children in Ghana, and her efforts have earned her recognition and praise from fans and fellow musicians alike.
