President of Ghana Boxing Authority, Abraham Kotei Neequaye has urged corporate Ghana to invest in local boxers as it is a lucrative business.

Speaking to Asaasesports Abraham Neequaye said investors can make as much as 33% when they manage a boxer.

“With the boxing business I keep telling people that it’s pays back. If you pick one or two boxers and decide to manage them, you have 33% to make when the boxer starts fighting for big money.”

“Apart from the benefit of advertising and other things that come their way is important. So I urge them to manage the boxers so that they can take the boys to the top and make the big money because the individuals sometimes cannot take the boys to that level.”

According to him “When the corporate bodies invest, example you put $100,000 investment, the boxer will fight for $1 million or $2 million, you get 2% to 3% of that money which is big business.”

There has been calls for more investment in Ghana boxing following the exploits of local fighters like Samuel Takyi who won a bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
