Ghana Football Association Executive Council member, Frederick Acheampong, has threatened to sue former Black Stars player, Ransford Osei over the latter’s allegation that he embezzled some $20,000 he was given to facilitate a national team call-up for the former Asante Kotoko striker ahead of the 2010 World Cup.

Ransford Osei, 32 claimed that he gave Fred Achie $20,000 to be given to some unnamed GFA officials as appreciation for his call-up to the 2010 AFCON in Angola.  But the former Ashanti Gold CEO refused to disburse the money which cost him a call-up for the World Cup in South Africa.

Fred in a statement released on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, stated that he has never demanded nor received the aforementioned amount from Ransford Osei.

He dared the former Asante Kotoko striker to make all evidence regarding payment available else he would seek to redress his reputation at the court.

“I find these ridiculous claims by the player malicious and without any basis and challenge him to provide proof of payment.”

“If he fails to provide the evidence to back up his absurd claims, I will be left with no choice than to use all legal means including the law courts to clear my name…,”- the statement reads.

“I never asked, nor received $20,000 from Ransford Osei for any purpose and hereby challenge him to provide the proof or retract and apologize.”

Ransford’s breakthrough moment was his exploits in the 2007 FIFA World Under 17 World Cup in South Korea where Ghana finished fourth. He finished as the second-highest top scorer in the competition.

Osei played for Kessben from 2005 to 2008, the same period Fred was Marketing and Communications Director at the club. He retired from football in 2019 after playing just 3 games for Palanga in Lithuania.

“In his capacity as Marketing and Communications Director for Kessben at the time Osei played for the club was done so with “utmost professionalism”. Fred added.
