Hearts of Oak Board deny interfering in Martin Koopman’s selection

Hearts of Oak Board Members have described former coach Martin Koopman’s allegations of interference with his team selection as “distasteful”.
Koopman was sacked last month after ten games in charge, winning only two games.
Speaking in an interview for the first time since his dismissal, the Dutch coach alleged he was prevented by the Board Members to use seven key players. The seven players included Salifu Ibrahim, Eric Esso, Richard Attah, and Dennis Korsah.
However, the Board which includes: Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamkloe, Vincent Odotei Sowah, and Alhaji Akambi responded in a press conference held in Accra on Monday, December 4, 2023, saying Koopman had full control over the playing body.
“The Board finds Koopman’s statement very distasteful.” “We never said to any coach or Koopman that he shouldn’t use the players he mentioned.”
‘Martin Koopman was solely in charge of player selection in the team. He was given full responsibility,” the Board told the press.”
“We want to put on record that by the time we played our seventh league match, Koopman had used 28 players except two who were on the injury list”.
The club is in search of a permanent coach after Koopman’s departure while Abdulai Rashidu steers affairs in the interim.
