John Boadu appointed director general of SIGA

President Akufo-Addo has appointed John Boadu as the director general of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA).

Boadu, a former general secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), succeeds Ambassador Edward Boateng, who turned 60 in June 2023 and was given an extension up to November 2023.

A letter signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, said that Boadu “is to act as the director general of SIGA pending the constitutionally required advice of the governing board of the Authority, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission”.

“Pursuant to Section 17 (2) of the State Interests and Governance Authority Act 2019 (Act 990), I am pleased to inform you that the President has appointed you to act as the Director-General of State Interests and Governance Authority (‘the Authority’) pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing board of the Authority, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission,” said the appointment letter, dated 11 December 2023.

“I take this opportunity to congratulate you on your appointment. Kindly indicate your acceptance or otherwise of this appointment within 14 days of receipt of this letter,” the appointment letter further read.

SIGA is a public institution that is mandated to facilitate performance management in state-owned enterprises/entities (SOEs) and other prescribed bodies, within the framework of government policy.

It exists to ensure that they operate efficiently, effectively and profitably, thereby contributing towards the socio-economic development of Ghana.
