Kennedy Agyapong aims for 70% win in NPP’s 4 November poll, says campaign team

The Assin North MP has retained the the number one position on the ballot as the NPP prepares for its 4 November presidential primary

The campaign team supporting Kennedy Agyapong’s bid for the flagbearer slot experts a resounding victory in the upcoming NPP presidential race scheduled for 4 November.

They emphasise Agyapong’s unwavering commitment to leading the governing party to retain power in the 2024 general election.

The Assin Central MP drew the number one slot during the ballot on Wednesday (13 September 2023). A spokesperson for the Kennedy Agyapong Campaign Team in the Ashanti Region, Lawyer William Kusi, confidently projected a 70% win for the lawmaker.

“He [Kennedy Agyapong] picked the first position for the second time. It speaks volumes about the fact that he is the chosen one. What I see in simple terms is acceptance and approval. What I see is that he is the people’s choice, and nothing will change that,” Kusi said.

“And so, the party should allow the process to go on smoothly and democratically because obviously if the party conducts a fair election, he will have more than 70 per cent. The signal is that the other candidates should just support his candidature”, he said.

The campaign to get delegates to endorse Agyapong’s candidature is gathering momentum in the ruling party’s stronghold with the launch of the ‘Showdown- Ken for Power Campaign’ at Suame.

The chairman of the group Nana Boadu said, “We know Ken Agyapong can rescue this country and we support this vision. We as executives will go all out and rally the delegates to vote for him. We are unleashing our resources to support Agyapong to win this election and we expect victory at the end of the election”.

The Assin Central MP faces Vice-President Bawumia, former Agric Minister Dr Afriyie Akoto and former MP for Mampong Addai-Nimoh, in a fierce contest.
