Kwesi Arthur: Deals from record labels must make sense before I accept

Speaking on Accra Lagos Joburg with host Solomon Ter on Asaase Radio, he said “If any record label or investor approaches me and their deal makes sense I will consider joining.”

Ghanaian rapper Emmanuel Kwesi Danso Arthur Junior, also known as Kwesi Arthur has said he will only sign record labels if their terms and conditions make sense to him.

“I haven’t signed to any record label because none of them makes sense to me, the arrangement has to make sense and be beneficial to both parties.”

Speaking on Accra-Lagos-Joburg with host Solomon Ter on Asaase Radio, he said “If any record label or investor approaches me and their deal makes sense I will consider joining.”

According to him “Most of the artists on the other side are assigned to labels and these labels put in millions of dollars in their artist’s craft.”

“But if as a local artist you do everything from your pockets you can’t compete against the big machines investing millions in their artist, but we are also trying to pull our weight to get there someday,” he added

Asked whether he’s interested in joining a record label he said, “I have been approached by a couple of record labels but it has to make sense.”

Although he did not specify the kind of deals he wants from record labels, he explained that “if I get the creative freedom to do what I want to do, I’m okay. All other requirements and deals can be sorted out later.”

“I’m down to partner with anyone if it makes sense.”
