The Artiste manager, Ernest Kwesi Ennin, has urged musicians and actors to invest their earnings in life insurance policies to retire gracefully.

The entertainment pundit has also advised actors in the industry to cut down on lavish lifestyles and save towards the future.

Speaking in an interview with Asaase News’s Andrew Sepah, Ennin said: “One of the few concerns that I have is that quite a number of celebrities are not saving, especially in their prime time and times when they are making big gigs.”

He added: “There are quite a number of insurance companies in Ghana. In the case of what has happened to Psalm Adjeteyfio, they will just make payment of about GHC200 a month and you’ll have an insurance policy that can take care of you and your health for the rest of your life.”

“Let us begin to call our celebrities and our creative people to begin talking to insurance companies, to be talking to banks, to begin putting some stipends in their accounts that will take us to the next life.”

Psalm Adjeteyfio’s request

Over the weekend, the veteran actor Psalm Adjeteyfio appealed to the public to help him raise about GHC3,000 to pay for his rent.

The Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, on Monday 13 September 2021, stepped in to save the situation by donating GHC50,000 to the ‘Taxi Driver’ TV series star. TT, as Adjeteyfio is affectionately called, has been off the screens due to his medical condition.

More from government

Eninn said beyond the vice-president’s intervention, the industry expects the government to open the Creative Arts Fund to support players.

“What is stopping the Creative Arts Minister, from opening the creative arts fund. It is important for the government to be looking at these areas now. The time is now.”
