Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu: Ablakwa’s resignation from the appointments committee unfortunate

The Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu says Okudzeto Ablakwa’s resignation from the Parliament’s appointments committee was unfortunate.

Speaking on Townhall Talk with Kofi Abotsi, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said, “Well, I think his own resignation from the committee is unfortunate…He does not assign clear reasons. He says they [the reasons] are personal and based on principles, just that. What principles, he does not provide further elucidation.

“In that regards, I believe I cannot delve into the issues…my own difficulty is that the honourable member [Ablakwa] should have informed his leadership about that. He didn’t do that, he went straight to the Speaker and I thought in that regard that conduct would have the potential to undermine the leadership of his own caucus which is not good…So technically I will fault him,” he said.

The North Tongu MP resigned from the appointments committee over a perceived disagreement with the Minority leadership during the approval process for the Finance Minister.

There are also reports of attempts to unseat the current Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, over allegations of betrayal during the vetting and approval processes for Ofori-Atta and other ministers.
