A leading commercial and industrial solar power provider in West Africa, Starsight, has expanded its operations to Ghana.

The firm is hoping to build on its track record to provide local businesses with professional, comprehensive and energy-as-a-service expertise.

Bold move

Tony Carr, the chief executive of Starsight, said the company’s expansion into Ghana represents a big advance for its vision of generating clean energy to power Africa’s future.

“Our operations in Ghana will be guided by the same values that made us the market leader in Nigeria: integrity, unrivalled performance and a commitment to long-term partnerships with our clients,” he said.

Emmanuel Ayifa Baah, a seasoned renewable energy executive, is leading Starsight’s expansion in Ghana.

“The Ghanaian market represents an incredible opportunity for an energy-as-a-service giant like Starsight,” Baah said. “We look forward to delivering the best service in clean and reliable power to the country’s growing industrial, financial, consumer and residential sectors.”

Starsight’s solutions optimise power consumption, enabling the customer to reduce costs significantly and boost profitability without incurring any upfront expense. This frees up resources for the customer’s core business, Starsight says.

The company has developed leading technology and a deep in-house capability for designing C&I solutions over the years, having completed over 400 sites in Nigeria since 2015.

It has 34MW of installed generating capacity and 25MWh of storage, and is backed by the leading African private equity firms Helios Investment Partners and Africa Infrastructure Investment Managers.
