The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, has begun what he describes as the largest and most effective door-to-door political campaign in Ghana’s history.
The former president said this after the NDC official campaign launch today in Wiawso, Western North Region, in anticipation of the December presidential and parliamentary elections.
He therefore called on NDC supporters to preach the party’s message to voters across the country.
Touching every soul
“Today, I launched our campaign for 2020 with the largest and most effective door-to-door campaign in Ghana’s history. We will touch every soul, we will heal every wound, we will restore dignity and truth.
“To all my compatriots across the various branches and constituencies, I entreat you all to take our message to the people,” Mahama said.
Meanwhile, the NDC says it is poised to host a town hall meeting on Tuesday 13 October in Cape Coast, the Central Regional capital.
The event will create an avenue for the NDC flagbearer and his running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, to explain the policies in The People’s Manifesto to the electorate.
A statement signed by the NDC communications officer said: “The event, which is part of efforts by the party to take its message of hope to the doorstep of every Ghanaian, is scheduled for 2pm and will be streamed live on major television and radio stations across the country.
Break down policies
“The programme will be addressed by the flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, his able running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and other speakers who will take time to break down and explain the transformational policies contained in the party’s 2020 People’s Manifesto.”
It will be the second time that the NDC will hold a town-hall meeting to explain the policies in its “people’s manifesto” in the run-up to the 7 December elections.
On 15 September, the party held its maiden town-hall meeting in Kumasi to explain certain policies outlined in its manifesto to Ghanaians.
