Martha Ankomah files GHC5 million defamation suit against Lil Win

The Ghanaian actress Martha Ankomah has sued the comedian Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, for making allegedly derogatory remarks about her.

In a video clip that has gone viral, Lil Win is heard insulting the actress allegedly for telling a Kumawood director, Frank Fiifi Gharbin, that she will not work with any of the Kumawood stars because they make meaningless films.

Martha Ankomah filed a defamation suit in an Accra high court on Wednesday (14 February), seeking GHC5 million in damages, as well as an apology and a retraction of the defamatory comments with equal prominence.

The details of the reliefs sought include damages in the sum of GHC5 million for “the defamatory statements made by defendant”, compensatory damages “for the damage done to the reputation of plaintiff”, aggravated damages for the “reckless and malicious publication of the defamatory words”, an order directing the defendant to publish an apology and a “retraction of the said defamatory words with the same prominence”.
