Meet Ace Liam: Ghana’s one-year-old Guinness World Record holder

Ace Liam's journey to the record books started with an attempt conducted in Accra from 18 January to 20 January this year

Chantelle Eghan, the mother of the one-year-old Ghanaian artist, Ace Liam, who has just been confirmed as the Guinness World Record holder for the Youngest Male Artist has said her son started painting at the tender age of six months.

Ace Liam’s journey to the record books started with an attempt conducted in Accra from 18 January to 20 January this year.

This means Liam has now overtaken the previous title holder Dante Lamb, who achieved the milestone at the age of three in 2003.

“We are thrilled to inform you that your application for Youngest Artist (male) has been successful and you are now the Guinness World Records Title Holder!”, Guinness World Records said.

Speaking to Kwaku Nhyira-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (15 May), Eghan said it took five months to get the result after his son’s attempt.

“His paintings are classified as abstract. His works are all abstract pieces. It was in the presence of my grandmother and I had a commission from Miss Universe to create a kit for the Ghanaian representative to walk on their stage … so I had a six-month-old baby and I also had to finish my painting.”

“My grandmother was like bring him and let me hold him, I said no, he should also paint … and she was impressed with the final work and said I think there is some art in the boy,” Eghan said.
