Meet Yussif Iddrisu, the Ghanaian turning bambara groundnut into nutritious milk
Kasim Company Ltd currently works with about 6,500 small holder farmers who supply the nuts for the production of BamNut Milk
The chief executive of Kasima Company Ltd Yussif Iddrisu has said plans are underway to establish a milk manufacturing factory in Tamale to produce milk from bambara groundnut.
Kasim Company Ltd currently works with about 6,500 small holder farmers who supply the nuts for the production of BamNut Milk.
Appearing on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (26 September), Iddrisu, the founder of Kasima Company Ltd, said the establishment of the factory will generate more employment in the region.
“Because we are just new, we export to What If Foods as raw material, they make the milk and we import as main distributors from Singapore,” Iddrisu said.
“We have acquired land at Tamale Yendi road to set up the factory,” he said. “So, we will soon start the processing of the milk in Ghana.”

What is BamNut Milk made of?
Bambara groundnut is a legume native to West Africa. Named after the Bambara ethnic group, it’s grown extensively throughout sub-Saharan Africa as well as in Southeast Asia.
The groundnut is rich in protein, amino and fatty acids, and micronutrients like B-vitamins, and is traditionally cooked and eaten whole as a snack, blended into porridge, or milled into bread flour.
