Moseaso: Three armed robbers burnt to death for allegedly robbing and killing gold dealer

The bodies have been deposited at the Asankragwa Catholic Hospital while the police mount a search for other robbers

Three armed robbers have been burnt to death at Moseaso, a community in the Amenfi West Municipality of the Western Region.

The robbers, numbering eight, robbed and shot a 51-year-old gold dealer, Frank Arthur, to death in the community. The incident angered the residents to react.

The deceased’s brother, Richard Arthur, said in an interview with Kaakyire Kofi Badu of Ahobrase FM in Asankragwa that he received a distress call that his brother had been shot by armed robbers.

Arthur said, “At about 6:30 am, I started calling my brother and he was not answering so I asked someone to go and look for him at the mining site if he was there. After about ten minutes, a call came through that my brother had been shot by armed robbers so I got there immediately. I went and took him straight to the hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival.”

Arthur stated that he was at the hospital when he was informed that the youths in the area had arrested some of the armed robbers.

He said, “I was still at the hospital making arrangements for my brother’s body when I received a call from the community that three of the armed robbers had been arrested. I later arrived in the community and realized they had burnt all three to death.”

Arthur stated that the burnt armed robbers were known members of the community who were also ex-convicts.

He said, “They have been terrorising residents in our community. Some of them are ex-convicts and they are known faces in our community. Those who are on the run are from adjoining communities and we trust the police to arrest them in no time.”

Badu confirms on a local radio station (Connect FM) that the leader of the armed robbers is currently on the run with four others.

The bodies of the burnt robbers were conveyed in the bucket of a pickup vehicle with residents gathered to catch a glimpse.

They have been deposited at the Asankragwa Catholic Hospital while the police mount a search for the other robbers.
