MTN Ghana Foundation celebrates Eid ul-Fitr with Muslims in Tamale

MTN Ghana Foundation has celebrated the Eid ul-Fitr with the Muslim community in Tamale.

The corporate social responsibility arm of the telecom giant, MTN Ghana, has made a donation to the Northern Regional chief imam, Alhaji Abdul-Salam Ahmed, and the Muslim community.

The donation followed the successful climax of Ramadan (30 days of fasting and prayers) by Muslims across the country.

The northern sector sales manager of MTN Ghana, Collins Agyei donated the items on behalf of the company.

Agyei said, “It is a privilege to be here on behalf of the management and staff of MTN Ghana to do this presentation to his eminence towards the celebration of Eid ul-Fitr.

“As we are all aware, Eid ul-Fitr is a period when families and communities come together to share and strengthen their relationships, to be charitable towards the less privileged and to learn to live in harmony with their neighbours.”

The telecom giant presented ten bags of rice, 20 packs of bottled water, 20 packs of soft drinks, a big ram, ten gallons of cooking oil and airtime worth GHC1,000.

Agyei informed Ahmed that “MTN will bring our services closer to them [the community] during the celebration. MTN will set up stands at vantage points to provide customers with enhanced customer experience. Customers will be able to do their SIM swap, 4G upgrade, pin reset, request for their unlocking code (PUK), register their SIM cards and perform MoMo transaction among others.”

The spokesperson to the chief imam, Alhaji Abdulai Habib Mohammed, commended the foundation for its continuous show of love to the Muslim community in Ghana, especially during the climax of the annual Ramadan.

Mohammed said, “It shows that MTN cherishes the community in which they have found themselves. They appreciate the fact that they are in the midst of people and want to associate with them in times of prayer and thanksgiving.”

He urged all Muslims, especially the youth, to celebrate the Eid ul-Fitr in a more peaceful and decorous manner.

Annually, MTN Ghana and its foundation make donations to a selected number of chief imams across the country, especially during the Eid ul-Fitr festival celebration.

This year, apart from the Northern Regional chief imam, the foundation made donations to the national chief imam as well the Western Regional chief imam and their followers.
