MTN Ghana aims to invest in robust security measures to combat MoMo fraud

The CEO of Mobile Money (MoMo) Limited says MTN Ghana aims to invest in robust security measures to combat MoMo fraud

Mobile Money (MoMo) Limited, has said MoMo fraud is hindering its services to customers across board..

At the launch of the 15th anniversary of MoMo in Ho, the senior manager of the company, Peter Bimpeh, delivered a speech on behalf of Shaibu Haruna.

He noted that fraud activities remain a common issue for the company.

“Fraud remains one of the prevalent issues that continue to hinder our work of promoting digital and financial inclusion in the country”.

However, they will imply the needed security measures to tackle it.

“MoMo fraud is an issue we are very passionate about at Mobile Money LTD and we will continue to work with all stakeholders through sensitisation and awareness initiatives and will continue to invest in robust security measures to combat it and protect our valued customers,” he said.

In an interview with the media after the launching ceremony, Bimpeh denied claims that some staff of MTN Ghana assisted fraudsters with details of MoMo users.

He, therefore, urged MoMo users to protect their account details, saying, “Let me use this platform to emphasise that every customer is the first and last line of defence. We need to protect our PINs and avoid clicking on unsolicited links, responding to fake SMS messages, or following the instructions of any random caller”.

On the way forward, Peter said, “We see a future of endless possibilities for MTN MoMo and Ghana’s digital payments sector. We are excited to continue our journey of innovation, economic inclusion, and empowerment with you”.

Adding that “We will keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible, explore modern technologies and create solutions that meet the changing needs of our valued customers and Ghanaians”.
