Ghanaian Afrobeats singer Olivetheboy has addressed the speculation surrounding his recent performance at the launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Manifesto on 12 August 2024.
Speaking on an Accra-based radio station, Okay FM, the artist clarified that his involvement in the event was purely professional and not an endorsement of former President John Dramani Mahama or the NDC.
Olivetheboy, known for his hit singles “Asylum” and “Goodsin,” emphasised that his appearance should not be interpreted as aligning with any political party. “I didn’t endorse Mahama and his NDC party; it was strictly business. I was hired,” he stated, underscoring that his focus remains on his music and his fans rather than politics.
He further noted that he is open to performing for any political party, including the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Convention People’s Party (CPP), if invited.
The singer, who also doubles as a songwriter, reiterated that his services as a performer are available to all, regardless of their political affiliations.
“I didn’t endorse Mahama and his NDC party; it was strictly business. I was hired,” he stated, seeking to distance himself from any political affiliations.
The music sensation reiterated that as a musician, his focus is on his craft and connecting with fans, not on partisan politics.
The singer, who doubles as a songwriter also made it clear that his services as a performer are available to any political party, including the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Convention People’s Party (CPP).
“I am open to performing for any other political party, such as the NPP and CPP, if I am invited to their events,” he added.
