Napo condemns Mahama’s “insults” to chiefs and clergy, urges Ghanaians to reject NDC

The vice-presidential candidate of the NPP has urged politicians to use decent words instead of insults emphasising the importance of seeking the blessings and support of these influential groups

The vice-presidential candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party has criticised John Mahama for what he termed as disrespectful comments toward chiefs, clergy and civil society organisations.

He urged politicians to use decent words instead of insults emphasising the importance of seeking the blessings and support of these influential groups as the NPP campaigns for votes.

“For him [Mahama] to have issues with them is a clear sign of disrespect. He visits these traditional rulers and clergymen to seek their support when he is campaigning, yet he now turns around and disrespects them. I find it very strange for him to behave this way, especially when we all understand the pivotal role they play in our society.”

For Dr Opoku Prempeh, “It would be suicidal for any traditional ruler, clergy, or civil society organisation to support the NDC. They are unfit to lead Ghana. The NDC has shown time and again that they do not value the input of our traditional leaders, and that lack of respect should concern every Ghanaian.”

“We will continue to seek your blessings and your votes. The NPP recognizes the invaluable role of our traditional leaders and clergy in shaping the future of this nation. They deserve our utmost respect and consideration, and we will ensure that their voices are heard and valued in our governance.”

Dr Opoku Prempeh was addressing the people of Ofoase in the Juaben Constituency when the “Possibilities 2” campaign made a stop in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday (19 September).

He also visited Kumawu and Oyoko in the Kumawu Constituency where he interacted with chiefs, and religious leaders and students. Kumawumanhene, Barima Sarfo Tweneboah Kodua expressed excitement about the appointment of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh.

The traditional ruler recounted how instrumental “Napo” had been, he praised the NPP for the numerous developmental projects initiated in the area, especially the ultra-morden hospital and roads.
